Philosophy...
As an educator, I feel my role is to guide students to be the best they can be through positive classroom experiences and interactions that foster their ability to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. I aim to help my students gain confidence in their skills and become self-motivated learners by providing an environment full of engaging and interesting learning opportunities that cater to their individual interests. This approach allows me to engage with each student on their level based on their needs.
Although my initial career goal was in social work, working in child welfare, my path changed 1/2 way through my college career when I began working as a paraprofessional at a very small school. The rewarding experience of helping students progress in their academic achievements and seeing their excitement made me realize the profound impact educators can have. This realization inspired me to pursue teaching as a profession.
I envision my classroom as a space where students feel safe, welcomed, and valued as both learners and individuals. I want them to feel encouraged to take risks, be creative, collaborate with their peers, and learn in ways that best suit their unique abilities. By providing flexible seating options and choice assignments, I will offer students the freedom to choose their optimal learning environments and learning path, whether it's collaborative projects or solo learning.
My classroom will be well-organized and uncluttered to minimize distractions. Both students and instructional staff will have clear access to needed materials and supplies, preventing disruptions and maximizing instructional time. Student accomplishments will be prominently showcased within the classroom, encouraging future success for all students.
Building good relationships with my students, based on mutual trust, care, and respect, is a cornerstone of my philosophy. I believe this foundation is crucial for academic success within the classroom and beyond. My students will have the freedom to express themselves, take risks, collaborate with others, and be creative in their learning processes. As an educator, it is my responsibility to provide appropriate expectations and limitations, ensuring every student has an equal opportunity to learn.
My role in the classroom is to share knowledge in ways that each student can understand and learn from. While doing this, I will strive to encourage and guide my students to achieve individual academic success without comparing them to others. I believe that each student's ability to learn and absorb knowledge is unique and must be assessed individually.
As an educator, I must be willing to continue my own education as the world around us changes rapidly. By continuously educating myself, I can adapt and evolve within the classroom, ensuring I remain an exemplary role model for my students. This preparation helps students feel confident in taking on future challenges and achieving success both academically and socially as they progress through the educational system.
It is my hope students will leave my classroom with the confidence to face and overcome challenges in the future.
